Fading Light
Kiarrah & Julian’s Engagement (West Vancouver)
Kiarrah and Julian's engagement session had a quiet, genuine quality to it. They were both a little shy in front of the camera, which made the first few moments feel almost like we were simply getting to know one another.
But as they became more comfortable, their natural connection began to take over. The small smiles, the quiet glances and the way they stayed close to one another created the kind of moments that don't need to be directed.
And then there was the light.
The evening light was disappearing quickly, so we found ourselves chasing it through the trees, moving from one spot to the next as the sun slipped lower. Every few minutes the light changed, becoming softer and warmer, and we made the most of every bit of it.
That combination of their quiet innocence and the fleeting evening light gave the photographs a feeling that I really love—romantic without being overdone, and intimate without feeling forced.
For me, the best engagement photographs aren't necessarily the ones where everything is perfectly posed. They're the ones where you can see two people simply being themselves.
Kiarrah and Julian gave us exactly that.
Together towards whatever comes next.
